Rebecca DeBiase graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law (QULS) in 2020. Her time at law school equipped her with a strong foundation in legal principles and family law, which she would later apply in her career. After completing her degree, Rebecca spent two years working at a law firm, where she gained valuable experience in various aspects of law, particularly in family-related cases. This early experience allowed her to develop her skills in client advocacy, negotiation, and understanding the emotional dynamics involved in family disputes.
Rebecca currently serves as a Family Relations Counselor at the Bridgeport Superior Court. In this role, she is dedicated to assisting families as they navigate the often challenging landscape of family law. Her position involves working closely with parents and children in custody and visitation disputes, as well as other family-related matters.
Rebecca's primary focus is on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), particularly mediation. In her role, she actively facilitates discussions between disputing parties, creating a safe and supportive environment for dialogue. She employs various ADR techniques to help families identify common interests, explore potential solutions, and work collaboratively toward agreements that serve the best interests of all involved, especially the children.
Rebecca provides mediation services to parents involved in custody and parenting access disputes. Her approach is to guide parents through the mediation process, helping them to communicate effectively and understand each other's perspectives. In addition to mediation, she organizes conflict resolution conferences where parents and their attorneys can come together to resolve disputes. Here, Rebecca plays a key role in facilitating conversations, offering insights, and providing recommendations when necessary, all aimed at fostering mutual understanding.
Rebecca lives by the motto "Control your own destiny." She believes this principle is particularly empowering for families facing challenges in family relations. By encouraging individuals to take an active role in their situations, Rebecca hopes to instill a sense of agency and responsibility. She understands that family disputes can be emotionally taxing, and by promoting self-advocacy, she aims to help families regain a sense of control over their circumstances. Her commitment to this philosophy not only influences her work but also inspires those she assists to embrace their own paths toward resolution and healing.
